West Coast Walk is an exciting and challenging fundraising project that I devised in late 2003. I started with a simple goal:
To raise funds to help the most desperate children on the planet.
To achieve this goal I came up with a demanding endurance target:
To journey, on foot, from Tijuana, Mexico to Vancouver, Canada.
I formulated a detailed plan, assembled a fantastic team and West Coast Walk
was born! The challenge will launch in Tijuana, Mexico on May 1, 2005. Here,
the journey of some 2,200 miles will begin. West Coast Walk will pass through
some of the USA's largest cities and most diverse landscapes, arriving in Vancouver,
Canada on approximately August 15, 2005.
Through public and corporate donations West Coast Walk intends to raise over
a million US dollars to donate entirely to the PolioPlus program of Rotary
International.
As well as raising a significant amount of money for a truly worthy cause, West Coast Walk invites the public to join in with our project. I welcome anybody to come and join us along our route to get involved and be a part of this project. If you want to walk with us for a section of the route, make a donation, organize an event when West Coast Walk passes through your city or have any other ideas, then we want to hear from you!
Finally, West Coast Walk will show that it is possible for anybody to make a difference. I am one human being, with no fame or fortune. With my ideas and my determination I decided to make a contribution to help the World's neediest children. My enduring wish is that West Coast Walk will inspire others to do the same.
